Going back to Yinglish, to “schmooze” in English means to socialize in a shallow, self-serving way with ulterior motives. But when Jews “schmooze” it’s more of a nice social thing and doesn’t carry the same connotations. Now imagine if Tikkun Olam is not only watered down, but distorted in such a way?
