@mcc@mastodon.social I was in elementary school when the WTO protests were happening. I was thinking of how OWS has to start from complete scratch which is a lot of the reason it didn't achieve anything durable

@bob@feed.hella.cheap Am I older than you? Huh. I am pretty certain OWS drew directly from WTO Seattle organizing tactics, but I was not in New York during that period. Certainly west coast black bloc organizing tactics for at least 15 years after Seattle were directly grounded in the lessons of Seattle (and, possibly, so were the protest-breaking tactics of west coast police, though I don't know to what degree the police were just using a playlist from LA or something)
