Every single limited access highway in an urban area should be torn down and replaced with urban fabric and revitalization of our crumbling rail system, which is the single most important improvement to our public #transportation policy we could possibly make. #urbanism
Not #HighSpeedRail, just fix the existing conventional rail system, and put back into service #railroad rights-of-way that have been unwisely abandoned.

#Highways and #airports cost orders of magnitude more to build and maintain than #railroads, #transit systems, and #ports and their associated #infrastructure, and the damage they create and incentivize is horrifying. #Sprawl must be reversed. #Growth must be contained. People's expectations have to conform to actual reality, or our #civilization is not going to survive this century.

@gcvrsa@mastodon.social As an avid supporter of high speed rail, I gotta agree 100%. fix the local & regional rails, fix the local and city-wide urban planning, etc, that's how you build a good future.
