@WeirdWriter@caneandable.social Yeah, you can talk yourself blue but many people just don't want to switch from the face eaters to more secure apps. Generic problem with leaving socially sanctioned platforms. I think they don't directly see or understand the harms from the ads & trackers.

@artfloral@sfba.social @WeirdWriter@caneandable.social One of the easy arguments: I can’t care as I don’t have anything to hide. Easy said, not correct, but not so easy to provide counter arguments. That takes a bit more time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_to_hide_argument Moreover people don’t like to leave their comfort zone….. Naturally people are lazy and prefer not to change things, even though they know it’s not a good choice. Psychological reason. What we do here at mastodon is an important thing, and let’s keep trying to stay on the right side and get things moving! My own struggle is trying to move away from WhatsApp, especially the group apps can be challenging. Most of them I won’t miss, but there is this one with my old classmates from to many years ago 😇 One of them mentioned, if the group leaves to signal I have no other choice than to leave. Maybe I should ask him personally why he doesn’t want to move there….
