The rail line to Churchill is not electric, nor likely to be in the foreseeable future.
The shipping season from Churchill is over for 2026. It will be a long while before it is more than 4 months long. One cannot consider supplying Europe's energy needs from such a seasonal port.
Europe is interested in LNG, though, not oil. I am not sure that would be any better out of Churchill.
But there is one key thing: the rail is not owned by CNR.

@Amgine@mamot.fr I'm doing devil's advocacy here given I think we're headed towards a mostly electric future but ... Given Anthropogenic Climate Change, Churchill MB will likely be ice-free year-round in a few years. Specifically I'm thinking "major infrastructure", so the timelines are years or half-decade. So, like, a pipeline, terminal facilities, deep water shipping berths, etc. From a diversification & finance point of view, a better investment than twinning the Trans Mountain!
