I also happened to tape a piece Pat Robertson did on the 700 Club about the evils of D&D; he revealed that "player characters" are really cases of demonic possession. Showed a few roleplayers burning their "Satanic" books. Oddly enough I don't think there were any actual D&D books to be seen on on the fire; I remember seeing some Call of Cthulhu, though, and possibly some FASA Star Trek. He also urged all roleplayers to put their hands on the TV screen and pray with him to be released from their demonic oppression. It was pretty funny. I wrote about it in my RPG zine at the time, and was asked by a member of CAR-PGA (the Committee for the Advancement of Role-Playing Games) to send him a copy of the tape.

@Quasit@beige.party It's one of the things that got me out of religion. If religious people are willing to lie that hard about an innocent secular hobby, why should I believe they have a monopoly on truth?

@Quasit@beige.party The film (made with the rightsholder's approval) is well worth a look.

@Quasit@beige.party A classic! Sometimes when I think about GMing for a new group, I imagine maybe there might be too many players wanting to join, so I announce we'll be playing by Blackleaf rules - your character dies, you leave the game. but that's just a fantasy, I can't get a minimum number of players cat-herded at the same time, so I'll never get too many players, so I'll never get to make that joke

@Quasit@beige.party I have spent entirely too much time thinking about Dark Dungeons, and by that I mean a whole lot of time. https://grimtokens.garden/Articles/Dark+Deeps/Dark+Dungeons+Runs+Deep+-+Dark+Deeps
