@ambientspace@cloudisland.nz was chatting with a pharmacist a few weeks back and she said it was the best stuff available (back when it was available). I do get some decent stuff in Japan and I need to acquire more next time I go. When you need it you really need it. Other cough medicine is pretty much worthless.
