@pvonhellermannn@mastodon.green Not to downplay El Niño, but to me all of this sound more like laying the ground for wartime, rather than climate adaptation. Which unfortunately doesn't make this better, in case worse, but with a caveat: while the climate is an extremely complex system in which we can intervene only over time, warlords are humans, and we can - and must - get rid of them sooner rather than later

@alx@mastodon.design That’s an interesting point, that the stockpiling advice is really because of war but they can’t say that. And of course economic crash linked to that. Maybe all three will come all at once! At any rate: it probably really is a good idea to start stockpiling. And build community resilience.
