Self hosting is fun, until you just have a billion issues you really shouldn't due to poor decisions to "make it fun and fancy". Past me decided I should have 2 Dockge (Docker + dashboard) VMs on my Proxmox box so I could have a little cluster and stuff! (It originally was planned for 3) Now I've got a bare box with NixOS in one of the most minimal configs possible just slowly standing back up services how I want to with not directly writing to the NAS for Sqlite and saving resources by ditching all of the layers. Ignoring the fact my NAS is a pile of hell and 95% full..
