The Mississippi Sheiks: Volume 1 (Third Man TMR156, 2013)
Jack White’s label teamed up with Document Records to reissue the complete works of Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and these guys I’d never heard before. I knew the song “Sitting on Top of the World” but didn’t know who wrote it. Too much skronky fiddle for me but it’s always fun to dig into a scene you didn’t know existed. I did not buy further volumes.

Joni Mitchell: Ladies of the Canyon (Reprise RS6376, 1970) I somehow ended up with a Canadian pressing of this. My copy has a lot of surface noise but whatever. This is my favorite Joni era, before she got all jazzy, which I respect but it’s just not my bag (I prefer the demos). “Rainy Night House” breaks my heart. She’s the best. Croz was right. @vinylrecords@fedigroups.social #vinyl #JoniMitchell
