EFF urges Canadians to oppose Bill C-22, now at Senate second reading. The House-passed text lets the Public Safety Minister order any service provider to build access capabilities, with orders valid up to two years, and allows rules requiring up to six months of metadata retention. Citizen Lab and CCLA researchers urged withdrawing Part 2 in June; CCLA's Tamir Israel called the amended bill "a blank check".
