Seinen 130. Geburtstag würde F. Scott Fitzgerald heute feiern.

How To Win Over Some Conservatives? Forty years ago when I was in graduate school, I did field research on land owned by ranchers in south Texas. I think they were probably conservatives. But at that time, many Texas conservatives had a mind your own business mindset. They tolerated those with whom they disagreed. They might have liked vanilla ice cream and not understood why some people prefer chocolate ice cream—but they accepted it. They might have preferred a steak dinner to enchiladas—but...

Execution by firing squad to be live streamed. In his essay, ‘Reflections on the Guillotine,’ Albert Camus called for a return to public executions as a way to shock the conscience of the public and bring about the abolishment of capital punishment. I used to agree with Camus’ idea and the reasoning behind it. But in today’s USA, where depravity is a virtue in the eyes of many, execution is celebrated. https://abcnews.com/Politics/hegseth-hasan-execution-public/story?id=137110734 #CapitalPu...

You may see some content copied from #Indivisible #BucksCounty here on my account. I'm still learning the ropes here on Mastodom... so I'm going to wait until I feel more comfy before I migrate the IndiBUX profile over here as well. Soon.

Our #⃣1⃣ priority for this final legislative session must be to #RaiseTheDebtCeiling. #Republicans - including Lancaster #Pennsylvania area GOP MoC Lloyd Smucker - have already told us they will hold #SocialSecurity & #Medicare hostage if we don't take this weapon out of their hands. Let's take a moment to shame #Pennsyvlania #GOP MoCs Rep. Scott Perry of #PA10 and John Joyce of #PA13. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand spearheaded a bill to "limit the judicial enforceability" of NDAs related to sexual harassment and assault - the Speak Out Act (S. 4524). It passed the Senate unanimously in September. And it passed the US House last week, 315-109. Of those NO votes, 2 came from #PA - Perry and Joyce. Way to side with harassers and abusers, guys. https://...

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. I know what I'm thankful for this November ( #Fetterman & #Shapiro in #Pennsylvania). To celebrate, here's Hunny playing with a turkey toy.

I never thought I'd be honestly delighted by something like this. But there is a big line for free flu shots at my pharmacy in #BucksCounty #Pennsylvania, and it make me happy to see that so many folks are doing their part to keep our community healthy.

From a #PA01 @RepBrianFitz staffer earlier today when I asked about Donald Trump's dinner with a #Nazi: "I don't think it needs to be said that Congressman Fitzpatrick is against #antisemitism." Maybe that DOES need to be said when the MoC refuses to say a single word on this topic! The man is a co-chair of the House Antisemitism Task Force. He lists it twice on his website, but can't find a single word to denounce this offense. Shameful.

@renwillis I once watched a thing about Spanish grape-only pizza. Always wanted to try one. Speaking of cultural conformity on holidays a lot of people eat things they don't like cuz they have to too. People like conforming for whatever reason...
