LLM advocates still don’t seem to be able to comprehend that ordering the machine not to ‘make stuff up’ doesn’t help. It doesn’t know when it’s making stuff up, and it couldn’t change that even if you told it to. (In fact it’s always just making stuff up, and is only ever true by chance.) It seems like a lot of folks are assuming that the pricing of LLM subscriptions is about to skyrocket, but I've been hearing that for months and think it's unlikely. The economics may be out of whack (they definitely are), but these companies are under so much competitive pressure that I think it's far more likely that they'll implode than raise prices significantly.
