The hardest decision for any engineering organization is to recognize that something into which they have invested significant effort, time and money is hopeless, and cancel the effort. These situations are inevitable, and if management is incapable of making such decisions the entire organization is doomed to failure. Conversely, if the plug is pulled on futile projects, what rises from the ashes is usually exceptionally good, since it inherits the lessons learned from the failed effort.

The silent power of simplicity: I recently switched from #emacs Prelude to Emacs Bedrock and from #zsh with oh-my-zsh to #fish. This setup is a breath of fresh air for me where I feel I am now in control over my tools versus being ever so slightly overwhelmed by the myriad of options. fish is really, really good and is indeed a "friendly interactive shell" full of sensible defaults. https://fishshell.com
