🥕🌱 Are our fruits and vegetables losing their nutritional value? A UK report suggests some foods have lost 20–50% of certain nutrients since the 1960s. Soil health, farming practices and rising CO₂ may play a role. Healthy soil is essential for healthy food. Let’s invest in regenerative farming and protect our soils for future generations! 🌍 #SoilHealth #RegenerativeAgriculture

🍄 Beneath our feet lies an invisible world that keeps our ecosystems alive. Mycorrhizal fungi connect with plant roots, helping them access water and nutrients while supporting healthy soils and biodiversity. Protecting the soil means protecting life itself. 🌱 What if we started treating soil not as dirt, but as a living ecosystem worth protecting? #YECI #SoilHealth #Biodiversity #SustainableFarming #Fungi

🌱 Deep native plant roots do more than anchor plants. They act like underground sponges, absorbing rainwater, reducing flooding, erosion and polluted runoff while improving soil health and storing carbon. Unlike shallow-rooted turf, native plants can reach deep into the soil, helping landscapes withstand drought and heavy rain. They also support pollinators, birds and wildlife. Nature has already designed a powerful water-management system. 🌍 #NativePlants #Nature #SoilHealth #Sustainability

From organic waste to new life! Banana peels, cassava peels, leaves and other farm residues are left to decompose and return nutrients to the soil. A simple example of turning what looks like waste into a resource for growing food. Fellow farmers, how do you turn organic waste into a resource on your farm? #organicfarming #foodsecurity #WasteReduction #solarpunksunday #permaculture #soilhealth

🌱👀 A surprise beneath the soil! While working on our farm, we uncovered these little soil creatures hiding beneath the mulch. Nature is full of surprises, and every discovery teaches us something new about the life beneath our feet. 🌍💚 Do you know what these are? Have you found them in your garden or farm before? We’d love to hear from you! 🌿🐛 #SoilHealth #OrganicFarming #Nature #Biodiversity #SustainableFarming #YECI

💧 Munich proved that protecting water at the source can be far cheaper than cleaning it later. Instead of building an expensive filtration plant, the city supported 185 farmers in its water catchment to convert to organic farming. 🌱 The result? Cleaner water, lower nitrate and pesticide pollution, healthier soils 🌍🌏🌎🌐and major savings. Clean water starts in the field. Protecting nature is often the smartest investment. 🌍💧🌾 #WaterProtection #OrganicFarming #SoilHealth #NatureBasedSolutions

How to help your garden withstand #ClimateChange#HealthySoils and diverse, perennial plants can help your garden beds survive #ExtremeWeather like #floods and #droughts. March 13, 2026 "The days are getting longer, and spring is around the corner. For many home gardeners, it’s a time of hope and anticipation. "So it’s the perfect time to plan how to help your flower beds thrive as climate change brings more extreme and unpredictable weather. "Marsden: 'Flooding, droughts, heat, cold, all the extreme weather we’re seeing is going to impact plants.' "That’s Christy Marsden of the University of Minnesota #ClimateAdaptation Partnership. "She says one of the most important things you can do is get your soil tested and then take steps to improve your soil health – for example, by adding #compost. Healthier soil retains more water during droughts, and it’s less likely to erode during heavy storms. "Marsden also suggests growing a wider mix of flowers than you might have grown before, with varieties that thrive in a range of conditions. "And she recommends relying more on perennial plants, which come back every year, and less on annuals. Marsden: “Perennials are more able to withstand some of those extremes because they have deeper roots. They’re more established.” "So while climate change is a challenge, she says by being flexible and trying new things, you can still grow a beautiful garden in a warming world." 📰 Sheep Are Helping Volkswagen Turn a Solar Farm into a Living Ecosystem 🐑 Poland: A flock of 100 sheep now grazes beneath 31,000 solar panels at VW’s Poznań plant, replacing mechanical mowing while improving soil, vegetation, and habitat quality. 🔆 The project is a large‑scale agrivoltaics experiment, pairing renewable energy with agriculture to boost biodiversity, reduce heat stress, and create cooler microclimates under the panels. 🤝 Researchers are tracking animal welfare, soil health, vegetation shifts, and insect habitat, showing how industrial solar sites can double as ecological corridors when managed thoughtfully. 🔗 https://electrek.co/2026/07/08/volkswagen-put-100-sheep-to-work-under-31000-solar-panels/ #SolarPunkSunday #Rewilding#Agrivoltaics #LandscapeEcology #RenewableEnergy #Biodiversity #SoilHealth #PollinatorHabitat #Sustainability #HabitatRestoration

Every plastic bottle thrown from a moving vehicle doesn't disappear—it pollutes our land, clogs drainage systems, harms wildlife, and contaminates our environment for generations. Dispose of plastic responsibly by using bins or recycling. A small act of care today protects the future we all share. 🌍♻️ #environment #climate #nature #biodiversity #wastemanagement #soilhealth #biodiversity #ecology #ecosystem #wildlife #photography #planet #earth #mastodon #pollution #climatechange #linux
