It’s a story of misogyny. I and Raffaele Sollecito care about each other: Amanda Knox returns to speak about the Perugia murder. Apologies (that were never enough) to Patrick Lumumba.
Amanda Knox will be a guest of Silvia Toffanin on “Verissimo” for an exclusive interview on Sunday, September 27th at 4:30 PM on Channel 5. Alongside her, for the first time on television, her husband Christopher and children Eureka and Echo. At the center of the discussion are the controversies that erupted around her stand-up comedy show Cartwheel, in which the American returns to recount in person the years of the judicial case that involved her in Perugia.
Criticism from Meredith Kercher's Family
During the interview, Amanda Knox addresses the reactions of Meredith Kercher’s family to her performance: “I don’t make jokes about a murder. Her family lost a daughter and sister in the most atrocious way possible, so they are justified in always feeling angry, but I am sorry that they feel hurt by the wrong person.”
Knox then rejects the accusation of wanting to minimize violence against women: "The idea that my message is to normalize violence against women is false. Every time I talk about what happened to me, I also talk about what happened to Meredith. The fact that no one remembers the name of the person who raped and killed her (Rudy Guede, ed.) is a tragedy.”
She adds a reflection on the judicial case: “I think this is a story of misogyny: she was killed as if she were worth nothing and I was put in prison as if I were worth nothing, when we were both innocent.”

“You can never choose what to do with your life, you see everything from a cage”: Raffaele Sollecito takes a stand with animals and talks about the analogies with his years in prison.
I’ve been four years in prison unjustly, and I’ve lived firsthand what it means to be deprived of freedom and to live in a condition where you constantly have to wait and do exactly what they tell you to do, and never be able to choose what to do with your life, seeing everything from a cage or a cell. That’s what Raffaele Sollecito, acquitted definitively of the murder of Meredith Kercher, said in a video published on social media, announcing his participation in the festival, taking “the side” of animals.
“You can call it whatever you want, but it’s always the same thing. I’m going to speak about cognitive dissonance and the analogies between human imprisonment and that of animals, which are the same – he continues – In fact, it’s much worse for animals because they are exploited, abused. And I’ll talk about how our society has a strong cognitive dissonance because we treat dogs and cats and animals close to us as sentient beings that feel pain and there are neighbors everywhere, but then when it comes to working animals, we completely forget that they are individuals too.” The festival will take place on April 11th and 12th at the Brixia Forum in Brescia.
