My love affair with Cats began at an early age. This photo shows me, aged 5, sitting on a park bench in Rome Zoo, cuddling a very friendly lion cub. No, it isn't AI. This photo has been in our family album for decades and has the dust to prove it! My older brother and sister also had their photos taken with this cub. That was in 1963. Good memories! #cats #catsofmastodon #Lion #fedicats #pets #OldPhotographs #1963 #Rome

Vanishing Australian native wildlife "The Invasive Species Council said... findings revealed the growing disconnect between Australians and wildlife, as local species declined while introduced animals – like cats, foxes and rabbits – became an increasingly familiar sight." "About 10% considered cats wildlife." "About one in six NSW, QLD and Vic residents think foxes are native animals and a third believe quolls are introduced." "One in five thought cane toads were native." “Sadly Australia is a world leader in extinctions." >> https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/sep/20/outfoxed-how-well-do-you-know-your-native-animals-australians-questionable-quoll-knowledge-exposed #Biodiversity #wildlife #NativeWildlife #conservation #illiteracy #ignorance #KnowledgeShortfalls #agnotology#education #pets #pests #SettlerSociety #EuropeanColonisation #extinction #ecocide #UnknownCountry #BiodiversityLoss
