when we remember #PatrickStewart we should also remember that he was a victim of #DomesticViolence. his father hit his mother and stewart openly talked about what experiencing this horror on a nearly weekly basis did to him, his brother, and obviously his beloved mother. he not only talked about it but advocated for men in particular to stand up against #DomesticAbuse. many years ago he became part of a campaign called “ring the bell“ to educate about the importance of bystander intervention.

"During their relationship, Lisa’s ex-partner was controlling. He kept her at home where he was emotionally and physically abusive towards her, including once attacking her with a machete. These days, he runs protests outside houses of multiple occupancy that he claims are housing asylum seekers" Interviews with 7 partners of 'Protect our women' thugs. #FarRight #DomesticViolence #DomesticAbuse #CoerciveControl #Women

So... who's surprised? Racism, misogyny, xenophobia, islamophobia in the Met (London Metropolitan Police). It's still upsetting and depressing though. And the sad thing is there are lots of decent police officers and they end up getting tarred with the same brush. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgq06d44jyo #met #metpolice #racism #misogyny #islamophobia #domesticviolence #sexism #sexualviolence #xenophobia
