If the ownership of #DigID (the Dutch digital ID platform) is something that should be subject to the laws of a free market, then why is the US ambassador in the Netherlands stepping in? And why is he requesting an urgent meeting with the Dutch PM? Would his boss allow a Dutch company to take over a critical piece of the American federal digital infrastructure? The American digital colonialism over Europe is becoming more aggressive as Europe starts to gain its own independence. And they didn’t think that we were that serious with our talks about digital sovereignty. https://www.dutchnews.nl/2026/05/us-ambassador-criticises-dutch-block-on-digid-owner-sale/

The dutchies have a centralized identity that you are using to basically interact with everything government. That contains pensions and health related issues. This is called DigID. It is run by a company called Solvinity an was was supposed to be taken over by a U.S. company called Kyndryl. The dutch cabinet (= government) has now blocked this takeover. I think the topic of souvernty is slowly landing in the right heads. I guess also ... thank you @bert_hubert@eupolicy.social and everyone else making noise there🙂 https://nltimes.nl/2026/05/26/netherlands-blocks-us-takeover-digid-operator-solvinity-security-concerns #infosec #cybersecurity #souveraeneInfrastruktur #sovereignty #digid

I'm honestly angry with the dutch government over letting the critical DigID infrastructure get purchased by american investors. it feels deliberately evil at this point. there's no way you can miss the insanity that is USA politics or big tech right now, there has to be corruption involved. #DigID

Dutch civil servant fired because he spoke up against the takeover of #Solvinity that provides the #DigiD service. DigiD is the central system that is used in the #Netherlands to log in into official government and related services. Solvinity, the company hosting DigiD will probably be taken over by Kyndryl, a US company. Putting the login functionality of the Dutch official digital services under US #jurisdiction. #DigitalSovereignty #DigitalAutonomy In Dutch: https://www.techzine.nl/nieuws/privacy-compliance/577495/cpo-logius-ontslagen-via-trouw-na-rel-rond-digid-beheerder-solvinity/
