Personally have had more issues with the windows installer than any Linux installer I’ve ever used (on multiple different systems)

I didn't realise that I need to buy a power supply. I had a fully assembled computer and was asking myself how I can plug the thing in. Also just bought a psu after and it still works like a charm to this day.

Yeah, you're never gonna live without trucks and vans either, you need those for the last few kilometres of the logistics chain. Still, we should reduce the remaining cars by half at least, and I'm saying that sitting in a train that goes so frequently that I don't have to check a schedule.

You can double the brightness of an LCD relative to its surroundings by wearing polarised sunglasses

I do not believe a word of it. AI only produces trainwrecks when coding more than a few lines by itself. They are trying to legitimise AI so that they can keep on moving rich people's money back and forth in order to make them richer.

Hmm now that I think about it, does the ‘A’ stand for asexual, aromantic, agender or all of the above?

Yes! They're expensive because they live underground with tree roots and are therefore hard to find. Also, there are pigs that search for truffle professionally. They can smell truffle that is buried almost a metre under the surface, which is wild to me.

Not surprising he’s saying that, that’s like, his whole thing. Probably would say that even if the thing were actually conscious.

I agree with you here (and also cool project/idea). What I’m trying to get at with my analogy is that, if you understand a programme’s source code, you understand and predict its behaviour in a meaningful way (although of course you lose some amount of knowledge of what the processor exactly does with which registers etc). When you only know the prompt used to generate a programme, you can’t do that. That’s why you have to manually check the code an LLM writes, but not the assembly generated by a compiler

They’re right though, there should be a ~1200 people Israeli death toll increase on October 7th and there doesn’t seem to be as sharp of a jump as you’d expect. It might just be that the video smoothes over the data and also it’s really hard to tell because the time axis isn’t labelled. I’d love to see a version with less smoothing and labelled axes of this…

I think he’s kinda right in that competent engineers can write good code using LLMs. I don’t know whether they’re actually more productive that way though. The problem lies in the fact that incompetent engineers can write a lot of bad, but good-looking code using LLMs, which might be a pretty big burden on the maintainers. Also, comparing LLMs to compilers doesn’t really work in my opinion. Compilers follow strict rules and translate one kind of logic into a different kind of logic, while LLMs turn natural language and vague notions into some kind of logic. Writing code is telling the computer precisely what it should do and prompting is vaguely telling it what end result you want and those are two fundamentally different things.
