@chosunone@pleroma.chosunone.io @nyx@social.xenofem.me on a local scale this is correct. on a global scale however, when we are considering how big the stocks of these weapons are and how fast they can be produced the costs are very relevant

@spacehobo@teh.entar.net @ariadne@social.treehouse.systems doing this with a cluster of Pis makes business sense to run if people pay for the gimmick because at least the hardware is uniform and fungible. babysitting a huge cluster of disparate electronics that you don't fully understand and which is already reaching its end of life (if not past it) is a challenge only a complete masochist would appreciate

you know, we've been saying this for... i think the first time i've coherently put a similar statement together was 2021? https://social.coop/@cwebber/117321242779306632 i suppose experience is a great teacher even for those who wouldn't listen Your only real job is to be the warm body they can blame when the AI slop inevitably breaks.

despite the ongoing work on #GlasgowInterfaceExplorer revD, we haven't forgotten our loyal revC users: I've just added a prototype for a RAM expansion board for revC that 1bitSquared has designed a few years ago it does pass the memory test, although the memory bandwidth is, at the moment, less than 2/3 of what's available with the faster revD FPGA https://github.com/GlasgowEmbedded/glasgow/pull/1268
