  I am seriously thinking of getting an Apple Watch *because* of Live Rewind. If I had a dollar for every time me and my collaborators have wished we had had the zoom recording on because someone came up with the perfect mot juste while discussing a paper, I would have enough to buy one.

  RE: https://bayes.club/@statmodeling_bot/117254268120426935 I am a big fan of highest density intervals (HDIs/HPDs) because a large fraction of the distributions we encounter in astronomy are heavily skewed and bounded below at zero. Doesn't hurt that they are also the _shortest_ intervals for a given included probability.   Co-author just ran a paper draft through ChatGPT for a "referee" report, and it is obvious it is trained on The Internet™ because it channeled a reply guy with perfection. Other than [helpfully] flagging typos, all of its biggest critiques were things it assumed we wanted to say, but hadn't actually tried to say.

  First impressions of Golden Gate: What is *wrong* with this? This is supposed to be a Snow Lep update? App exposé is broken (minimized windows don't show up). Too many web pages don't load fully or don't print properly. Time Machine stutters. Notifications crawl. IDL doesn't start.

  So yesterday I was sent a plot (made by codex using matplotlib) and rather than bug the author for small modifications, I asked codex to write me an IDL script to make the same plot which I then modified manually. I might be doing AI wrong.

  #cricket This is impressive. IND are effectively fielding six completely different [high quality] teams nearly simultaneously with barely any overlaps. The bowling looks a bit thin and somewhat raw for the AUS-A and the Irani Trophy first class games, but that is as it should be.
