Stepping down as taskforce lead As I announced earlier today on the mailing list, I'll be stepping down as the lead of the ActivityPub Trust & Safety Taskforce. There'll be some process through which a new lead for the taskforce will be selected, and I encourage people with a background in trust & safety to apply, since it's mostly about facilitating and coordinating work and ensuring the outcomes remain on track. If you're interested in potentially leading t...

The flow for passkeys ends up blocking mobile browsers from authenticating if the passkey is stored in a tool like 1password, even if 2FA via TOTP is enabled. When trying to use 1password to fill a 2FA TOTP on mobile, the form field doesn't fill. I've not had this problem with 1password on any other site that I use, so it seems specific to something nodebb is doig.

You can do it, as long as you have always had media served from a custom domain (e.g., media.myserver.example instead of like s3.digitalocean.com or something) I'd recommend doing the migration offline, just take the hit with downtime. For media, rsync running on a server is your friend, but first prune your caches (that's the likely bulk of your media storage). This query run against the database will give you media storage consumed per account (local and remote) SELECT a.user...

@unattributed@gotosocial.social that's what the ATP IETF WG is all about, obviously standardisation tasks time. Little known thing, that as far as I know is true, is that ActivityPub is based on a thing Evan's startup used to do (iirc, Pump.io), and then it was brought to the W3C for standardisation

There were a few other things (conflicting standards such as ACP vs WAC), but the JSON-LD was repeatedly the thing that developers found hard to wrap their head around. "How do I create a schema?" is a pretty normal question for an application developer, when you're used to working with traditional web app stacks. "Oh, it's JSON" and then they learn, nope, it's not: every property is optional, every property is one value or an array of values. The JSON-LD learning...
