I do hope #Monsterdon has already played #TwilightPeople (1972) as otherwise I'm left with the ugly question as to how I could have possibly learned of it 🤔 https://www.youtube.com/watch&v=M7XpjOuMoWk

For the record, given the present architectures, I do not expect the #aipocalpyse to be sinister, neither human or machine directed, although those will happen, already are, but no, the real catastrophes will come from a grossly stupid mistake that propagates instantly, a complete and tragic misalignment from the intention. I am, of course, no expert on these matters 😅

RE: https://social.coop/@dajb/117477114612452302 Go ahead. Ask me why I despise PHP. The bane of programmers. I shared deskspace with lerdorf at sympatico and as I recall he was worried about his monster even back then. If we really knew how to craft software, this wouldn't happen. On a blackboard, sure, but with 16 cores connected to the internet? Bon chance!

#monsterdon as a quasi-alert, I recently found a 1927 version of the German sci-fi monster/victim Alraune, which like Frankenstein, keeps getting remade with new twists on the monsterness of the monster. I'm told there's an earlier film, but I also wonder if there are any later than the 1952 'Unnatural'
