My team is very proud of this deep dive research we did with IFPG into over 151 thousand AI answers and 1.5MM citations to real world election questions for last months. The trends and highlights in this early report is just the first early findings - with more to come! #AI #Midterms https://innovatingforpublicgood.substack.com/p/new-analysis-finds-ai-platforms-providing

With only days left before the midterms, for those of you using @surf@flipboard.social I just created this new feed of US Election Protection accounts. All highly worth your support and attention in these critical times. #surffeeds https://surf.social/feed/surf%2Fcustom%2F01m5q6rxg6skn3y33am7ts668k?ref=share

FiftyPlusOne did great work uncovering this fake polster. My team working with IFPG then analyzed how this data polluted the AI answers for top election quetions over the last months. 👇 "FAKE POLLS, MISLEADING AI ANSWERS" https://innovatingforpublicgood.substack.com/p/fake-polls-misleading-ai-answers

RE: https://fedizen.net/pub/objects/01M5GKDQ9NW7CR4FXC3K4D9DH5 Endorse: “There are still benefits to alternate protocols existing… if for no other reason than bringing new ideas to the table that force the more popular protocols to compete. We’ve already seen how effective the competition between ActivityPub and AT Proto has been, and the biggest winners have been the people using the protocols. I agree with every idea @samvie@chaos.social advocates for here. A European digital sovereignty movement that is all based on close source European owned solutions vs American tech is not the solution. That’s trading one dependency for another. The solution is open protocols and offerings not owned by any single company. #opensocialweb #opensource #ooenprotocol https://media.ccc.de/v/matrix-conference-2026-102392-open-protocols-unite-common-goals-in-advocating#t=634

Question to the fedi hive mind: Is there a better way to find Mastodon #collections made by others than just searching for that hashtag? cc: @imanijoy@mastodon.social https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2026/04/designing-collections/

Seems like at least the account back, but no word from Meta on why this happened. This is why they were so smart of @indivisibleteam@mastodon.social build out on platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon & their own direct to their users newsletters too - that are not at the whim of giant big tech. #Meta needs to give exact and full answer of what the Hell just happened on this critical day of action. #Nokings #NoKingsVoteEarly

Not suprising in the least but disappointing to see Reddit move the wrong way. Less open, killing public API, ending RSS. #enshitification commences in a speed run. Looking forward to #Piefed and rest of #Threadiverse to work to take advantage of this moment. https://techcrunch.com/2026/09/30/reddit-is-killing-rss-feeds-ending-public-api-access-because-of-ai-bots/

@stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe - for #LittleFedi have you thought about using the same technique or even the say relays as #HolosSocial and #HolosDiscover to have the micro single users server speak to and see the larger Fediverse better?

Very proud of the work my team did with Innovating for the Public Good here. There is still time - even with just weeks to go - for organizations to put inoculation to work fighting against the disinformation we know is coming as we head to the polls this midterm. And time to start planning for beyond. https://www.psgconsulting.com/research-publications/countering-disinformation

Meta's Muse.ai is impressive enough to me to really prove that such Agents can be mass market offerings - and makes me deeply hopeful for a purely private, and/or self hosted offering that is as easy to use to come along.

Agreed. The trust question is the whole ballgame for the agentic web. An agent is only useful if you hand it your inbox, calendar, and wallet, so the bet is who would you trust this with? Not Meta. Not Google. Not AI tech. Watching this one closely. https://defcon.social/@ai/117238342121057622

Key quote from this episode: “And everyone has known this is coming because I have been telling them it's coming for years and years and years when Google's traffic, when the amount of traffic you see coming to you from Google goes to zero. What is left of your business? Do you have one? Do you have an audience? Do you have anything at all? And if Google turns off the economic incentives for all of these people to make new information, what will Google summarize in the AI Overviews...
