THE SENTINEL (1977) is streaming on Netflix right now so I decided to watch it last night, having never seen it before. This movie is straight up bonkers in such a great way. So many famous faces from different eras showed up for this flick. Including Ava Gardner and her delightful transatlantic accent, Burgess Meredith in all his campy glory, John Carradine bringing the creep factor, Chris Sarandon sporting a questionable mustache... and so many others!! Worth a watch! https://www.youtube.com...

Of course it was censorship. How is that even a question? If you really want to protest what's happening in our country, start by deleting all your Meta accounts. It's the easiest protest ever. You don't even have to get off your couch to do it. Don't "deactivate". Permanently DELETE your Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, etc. The day Zuckerberg donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration was the day I cut ties forever. What th...

🇺🇸 Just 15 DAYS till the US midterm elections. Our country is in deep crisis and this election is crucial. If your state allows for early voting, do it! (You can check if your state does here: https://www.voteamerica.org/early-voting/) Otherwise, have a plan in place for November 3rd. Lots of polling places have been eradicated by this fascist regime, so double check where your polling place is. (You can do that here: https://www.vote.org/polling-place-locator/) This is a code red. GET REA...

My glasses just broke while I was wearing them. They just snapped and fell off my face. If that isn't weird enough, this is the second time it's happened in the past two months. This is what you get when you buy a multi-pack of readers from Temu. 🤓

Gutted to learn Richard Riehle has passed away. Richard was a beloved character actor (no doubt you've seen his work) and my friend of many years. I cannot gush enough about what a kind and supportive person he was. (Not to mention an avid collector of Hawaiian shirts!) If you knew him, you know exactly what I mean. I've been crying all afternoon. The world has lost one of its finest people. I'm gonna really miss him. Sending all my love to his family. 💔 https://www.rol...

Nothing like spending a Friday filing an insurance claim for your car because some asshole driver hit it while it was parked and fled the scene. I'll also be casting a pox on said driver.

Lately, at every job interview I go on, when they reach the part where they ask if I have any questions, I'll specifically ask what their company's formal stance is on AI. It's interesting watching them all fumble about without a solid answer.

It occurred to me tonight that I have now been using social media platforms for 23 years, starting with Friendster back in 2003, which was replaced by MySpace, which was replaced by Facebook, which led to us not replacing anything but juggling multiple platforms instead. (At one point, I insanely had 8 at once.) And now I'm back to one sole platform. This one. And there's no ads or algorithms, and I don't even use an app... just like 23 years ago. Funny how it weirdly all...

Postponed all my weekend plans and instead my husband and I got gas for the generator and snacks to hunker down with. Now this nor'easter is guaranteed to pass us by.

The Starbucks in my old 'hood—which opened directly across the street from a small punk rock coffee shop that was promptly put out of business—is on this list. Good riddance. 🖕 https://nypost.com/2026/09/26/business/see-which-california-starbucks-locations-are-closing-across-the-state/

Man, I am super sad to learn that Trader Joe's has discontinued their Refresh Body Wash. That stuff smelled like pure bliss to me. I thought they had simply repackaged it with a new look, but no, they are using an entirely new manufacturer that makes a new body wash with different ingredients and it smells completely different... because it's a different product entirely. First world problem, sure, but what else is bringing us joy these days if not the little things? I shall miss...

Lost power again for an hour and half this morning. Luckily we have a generator. Our sump pump also picked a fine time to break. Luckily we have an emergency backup one. ("Luckily" = good planning) #Noreaster

October is here! Time to celebrate all things spooky! 💀 Here's a short film I wrote and directed some time ago. It stars the amazing Ernest L. Thomas (yes, that's Raj from "What's Happening!!"!) It was on Amazon for a bit, then later on Shudder. I figured why not share it on Mastodon? It's just 5 minutes long so give it a watch! https://vimeo.com/taraprice/earworm?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci #ShortFilm #Movie #Horror

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity." https://mashab...

I follow a big variety of interesting people here. I've learned a lot from the techy posts, I'm inspired by the artsy posts, and I'm ALWAYS happy to see photos of your pets. Who won't I follow? Those with no photo/bio/posts. Those who boost every single response to their posts. Those who insist on putting a ridiculous blue check next to their name. (This isn't the bird site FFS.) Anyway, not telling anyone how to run their page. You do you. Just know I'm picky AF. And...
