I'd love to draft up a new software license that's basically MIT but with a toxic clause that says "if you use this to train an AI tool, you're obligated to pay the author $10M" or similar. Does something like this exist? #FuckAI #SoftwareLicensing

When I'm at a conference and someone is like "I have to fly back to {home country} tomorrow", I can't resist saying "have fun going back to a country that isn't a fascist hellscape!" Prove me wrong, America.

During my ride to the train station, 15th street in #Austin was blocked off for what appeared to be a police escort...for a livestock trailer? Is this a sports thing?

Another brand new #ComposerPackage for y'all: BackTrace, which is best described as "value objects for `debug_backtrace()`" This one might be pretty niche, but I needed it for a feature I'm building on TypeSnitch, so now we all benefit 😁 https://codeberg.org/stevegrunwell/backtrace

The sum of times I've been at a brewery and thought "ooh, an ice cream novelty sounds incredible right now!" far exceeds the sum of times in which said ice cream novelty was available. This is disappointing.

Saw #WeirdAl tonight and it was a helluva show! Best of all, I got to share the experience with my dad (who got me into Al) and my daughter (who I turned onto Al), so it was a multi-generational affair 😁

Ooh, it looks like there's even an official #VivaLaDirtLeague flat clicker. Maybe that's the way to go (though I don't really need a flat clicker this big) https://vivaplus.tv/products/vldl-flat-clicker-blue

I like traveling with a #guitar. Even if it's unamplified and just for strumming in the room, it lets me pretend like I'm on tour.

Hey, you! Do you have a legacy #PHP application that needs some much-needed #modernization? Upgrading to PHP 8, wrangling dependencies, building out a solid test suite + CI pipeline, etc.? I'm available for short- and long-term contracts starting as soon as August! https://stevegrunwell.com/consulting #GetFediHired #AvailableForWork #Consulting

@ross@crikey.social It's also a bummer because he and his wife (Nataly Dawn) make up Pomplamoose *and* he's one of the band leaders for Scary Pockets. I used to really enjoy watching their live studio recordings on YouTube :/

RE: https://phpc.social/@awoodsnet/116976981979051244 This is a bummer, I used to speak at #WordCamp events all the time. Is it that they just didn't recover from COVID, the organizers got burned out, or something else?

It's been about a month and a half since the layoffs, so it's probably time to start trying to #GetFediHired (ideally in a #consulting capacity): I'm a staff-level software engineer with ~18 years of experience working with teams of all sizes. #PHP is my go-to, but I'm comfortable across the typical web stacks (and a quick learner). My specialty is automated testing & code quality, and I've given > 100 talks since 2014. I'm anti-AI, but good at setting up guardr...

I understand that I'm an outlier when it comes to password hygiene (I'm *meticulous* with 1Password), but it's for that reason that I get irrationally-upset any time a service switches to "magic links" instead of logging in with a password. This goes double for "gee whiz, it looks like you haven't updated your password in the last year"—no shit, my password's like 32 characters and has never been used anywhere else by me! 🙄

I'm 20-odd years late to the party, but I've been enjoying #Deadwood over the last couple weeks (currently mid-season 3). Without spoilers, it's also a great parallel to so much happening today: back room dealings, political backstabbing, and capital greed standing in the way of progress.

A modest proposal: we hand over Trump, Hegseth, et al to Iran. They can do whatever they want with the bastards, up to and including public executions (though I'd suggest Iran try them all in an international court for war crimes and crimes against humanity). End the unjust war and Trump's tyranny in one fell swoop.
