*sigh* Finally just unpacked the suitcase from the Caminos that weren’t meant to be. Depressed all over again. Like spent so much time and money and nothing.

*If* I do the Christmas Camino, I have narrowed it down to two. Reverse Mozárabe from Córdoba to Jaén, bus to Granada, continue on to Guadix, bus to Almería, Argar through Cabo de Gata. Camino del Sur from Huelva to Zafra, arriving to Zafra on Noche Buena (24/12), then continuing on Vía de la Plata to Mérida and Cáceres. Either return to cities I love that I haven't been to since 2009 (Córdoba, Jaén) or 2017 (Granada), or places I haven't been to (Zafra) or barely got to see...

Kyle MacLachlan's Fictional Selves was exactly what you would expect from him...loved how David Lynch always talked in all caps like "KALE, WHAT WE NEED TO DO..." #Bookstodon

My heart aches to be on a Camino right now. My tooth just aches.

Camino Cancelado I have had to postpone this year's Camino indefinitely due to a tooth infection. My tooth has been bothering me for quite a while, and...I googled flying with a tooth infection, and it was not a risk I wanted to take. I feel like a complete and utter failure, having spent so much time researching and planning a Camino that I can't even do. http://setmeravelles.com/2026/10/16/camino-cancelado-2/

Hi, we’re Huey, Dewey and Louis. Our Great Uncle Scrooge is a billionaire who doesn’t help the poor and our uncle Donald never wears pants. Social media says we are nepo-ducks. #Birds #Ducks

Well, both of the cancelled Caminos appear to be pretty rainy/not great weather, so I feel a little bit better. Still. *sigh*

I have to post/mail my luggage from València to my hotel in Gijón this year, either Correos or DHL. Should I bring my laptop? It would be used nearly half the days of the trip and I’m not good with mobile/iPad typing. (Would not take it on the Camino). I usually leave it with a friend in Barcelona, which I won’t be visiting til the end of the trip.

We watched most of Buen Camino tonight, the Italian movie about a White Lotus-type family on the Camino, and it was way better than I expected. Funny with heart, typical Italian. It got me excited about my upcoming Camino...which I'm still debating on cancelling. I purposefully scheduled four days in València for hikes around my old home and because last year coincided with a gota fría which the entire city was closed in case of flooding like the 2024 DANA. Guess what? NOTHING BUT RAIN IN T...

Either the local hummingbirds hadn’t migrated yet or we have a couple that are migrating that found our feeder. It’s adorable how one comes for the mate and they fly off together. And return for more.

Doing a 25th anniversary rewatch of The Others, which I probably haven't seen since 2001...and it's...not as good as I remembered, but my concentration is also shot today. Nicole Kidman is great, but Moulin Rouge! was the far superior film.

38. Dearly Departed by Chip Pons. Hades is no longer the king of the underworld but a funeral home owner named Hayden and falls for the town floral arrangement guy. Tedious read, especially since I had high hopes after Winging It With You :-/

This week's Wednesday Foreign Film is El vampiro negro, an Argentine noir from 1953 that was well worth watching.

This week's Sunday Vintage Film was Band Wagon, which might be my first Fred Astaire. It was a lot of fun and worth a watch. Apparently it was a rewatch as I had rated it in 2014 on IMDb lol.

A pair of movies today. Charlie Bartlett was better than I expected, from 2007, about a teen who gets kicked out of boarding school and becomes his public school's new prescription drug dealer. Testosterone was one I enjoyed in the mid 2000s, despite the bad pronunciation of my name...alas, due to the political affiliation of the two leads, this movie hasn't aged well, but it is fun watching both try to play gay. Jennifer Coolidge was Jennifer Coolidge and stole the movie, along with...

S3 of Halt and Catch Fire is off to a good start. Feeling somewhat better but still a bit off...executive functioning has ceased to exist this year (and since I'm AuDHD...it was barely there to begin with). Hopefully a good night's sleep and I'll be back to "normal" tomorrow.

19. A Crushing Walk in Cornwall by Nicholas George. Chase's third long-walk in England with a murder. I might be the oddity that wants more of the walk (and Chase's relationship with Mike!) and less of the murders; that's also the hiker in me who burnt out on murder mysteries in the 90s.

Foggy morning at River Bend, heard more birds than I saw and the ones I saw didn’t want their photos taken, except for this male cardinal who escorted another male cardinal out of its territory and then sang loudly, convinced it was inconspicuous. I also saw a wood duck, blue jay, tons of catbirds, and an Eastern Kingbird. #Birds #Outdoors

Sorry for another Camino poll/more indecision. Turns out there isn't an affordable place to stay in the town of the first night, as the place I was going to stay is 6 km away and has no way to reserve, questionable if even open. 1 means bus to next town, next morning bus back and walk 2 means visiting either Elche or Cartagena for that extra time 3 means Camino Vadiniense in reverse from León to Santo Toribio (Picos de Europa!) So here are the options...
