RE: https://aus.social/@shlee/117318918816027001 Universe a website builder was once rejected because they said it was too similar to Safari because it previewed the website you made in the app. Meanwhile this settings clone just breezed through and charges 5x more than Universe, a fully functioning web dev platform. I’m so angry I can’t breath 🤬

RE: https://flipboard.com/@ign/ign-jtkhe64mz/-/a-ni6SzBLyT7GU9pneXeFqUQ%3Aa%3A4274664-%2F0 Ugh why does Meta have to be the one to figure this out finally. I’ve said for years the path to AR is to sell as cheap a device as you can that makes viewing movies anywhere like IMAX. They could done this with a wire to the iPhone ten years ago and snuck in with app support and features over time. If Meta does it and wins the face race I’m going to be so annoyed. Mostly because this was always Apples...

There are tons of little air blowers or dusters and also tons of mini vacuums that at least claim hepa filtration. I really wanna. Device that does both. My wife has a severe dust allergy. Anytime I use a duster its just blowing tons of dust into the air making it unsafe for hours. I feel like it should be possible to have a device that works as a duster but it’s intact includes a hepa filter to capture all the dust it blows up. Or maybe a dual nozzle design.

The way he calls out not having a Youtube app should be so embarrassing for Apple. But I still get the sense that they think that is Youtube’s problem… https://www.youtube.com/shorts/v5lc7UAAats The Vision Pro is just so hampered by a decade of under investing in iPad OS and disrespecting developers. And it sucks because it’s the technology and platform I want to be most excited about. But because of policies and control issues it feels like a dead end.

People casually send emails like “Just wanted to make sure I’m on top of your inbox” like they are politely explaining why you got 3 emails from them in 36 hours. Dude do you not understand? Do you not get that you have just gotten yourself blacklisted forever? I will burn everything to the ground before I buy whatever bullshit you’re selling. I am blocking you in our company’s Google account. I am reporting you to every single email reputation database. This is war now. Fuck Spammers.

Why does every voicemail greeting say “leave your number and I’ll call you back.” Its 2026. For at least the last 20 years voicemails have always included the number that called you and a button to call them back.

Airbnb is really evolving. It’s interesting and makes me curious how well it’s working for them. I have a trip coming up to a cabin in the mountains and new to me is them trying to upsell me to have groceries delivered or hire a private chef. I clicked through and they are offering services from locals like massages, photography, and personal cooking. I’m not sure how to feel about it yet. Its a little gross to get upsold this much but also seems good for the locals and convenient.

One thing that doesn’t seem to be improving is AirPod range. I love my AirPods but if I leave my phone on a table or on the charger I can’t even walk around my house reliably. Range seems to be 10-20ft and 20 is only with direct open line of sight.

@marcoarment I was once paying Cloudflare $80k a year. I never got faster than week long support and rarely from trained individuals. I no longer pay Cloudflare.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@atpfm/116297624952863592 Apple definitely timed the Mac Pro announcement for the same day as ATP to delay the news for a week.

RE: https://mastodon.online/@davidaugust/116365209837211372 Because of my position many friends and relatives ask me about AI — Specifically if it is conscious (it isn’t) or if it will be soon (I doubt it). I normally start by explaining to the best of my ability how LLMs and the scaffolding around them work. The end is always the same. A depressing realization that either a probability algorithm is all it takes to match consciousness (it isn’t) or that it is all it takes to be convincing. E...

Godaddy has been on a downward spiral a decade or more. So I know this isn't new. But I just can't believe how bad it has gotten. This is the same domain. Offered to you for $1 on sale if you don't want it, or $374 if you do want it.

I think I did it. I found the worst take on Tim Cook's retirement there is. LinkedIn ftw. Seriously I tried so hard to find the proof this was a joke but I think it's a serious commentary. With comments ranging from "true" to "what about BTC"...

I've hurt people's feelings. I've been lashing out. Because GitHub is failing me, every single day, and it is personal. It is irrationally personal. I love GitHub more than a person should love a thing, and I'm mad at it.” I don’t exactly feel this way about GitHub. But man do I fee...

RE: https://toot.yosh.is/@yosh/116487778402803336 I wonder how many of those action minutes are just stuck jobs running for hours… cause I get a lot of those these days. Which number is reported matters.

I hope that has AI companies raise their prices to cover the real cost as VC money dries up that the local AI story evolves somewhere fun. I always hate the thin client periods of tech and love the powerful local machine periods. Because I love owning and playing with computers. I hope we make it to that point where every year a new computer saves literal minutes to hours of your day without being a rent seeking game.

@chockenberry Ring monetizing the mistake where everyone’s live cameras and recordings were in a public S3 bucket was not on my bingo card.
