I was playing some Golden Axe II last night for the first time in probably more than 20 years and let me tell you, that soundtrack is metal as fuck! #retrogaming #segamegadrive #videogames

We were listening to ISIS Oceanic on vinyl at the weekend over a couple of drinks, such an incredible album that was probably years ahead of its time. But I was surprised at how much of the second half of the album I'd completely forgotten about and just how good it is. Very few metal bands have been able to build tension like that in their songs, they really were something special!

I'm running Linux Mint on my laptop at the moment, most of the open source software is great, but I find the compatibility issues with Open/Libre Office and MS Office which is so ubiquitous annoying. So last night I installed MS Office 2007 using Wine, which was very nostalgic and brought back memories of office jobs in my twenties! So little bloat compared to today's MS Office suite I'm forced to run on my work laptop with Windows 11. Going to experiment with other older...

Smart TVs are terrible. Ours is disconnected from the internet and we use it as a dumb TV with a 13 year old Lenovo ThinkCentre mini PC hooked up and running Linux Mint. We use a small handheld mini keyboard to navigate the menus and it can do far more than any Smart TV. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/oct/20/smart-tv-television-dumb-wifi-techies-privacy

I got absolutely rinsed by the first proper boss in Persona 3 Portable, there was a really harsh time limit, and there were no proper save opportunities immediately before it, so I have to go back to the beginning of the whole sequence. I have a better strategy for next time though... #P3P #PSP #Persona3 #retrogaming

We went into Liverpool yesterday to do a few jobs and then popped into Wetherspoons for lunch, mainly for cost saving purposes and because they accommodate small children. I had a very decent pint of Murphy's for £3.40 which is nothing to turn your nose up at! Easily £7-8 back home in Belfast, which is getting ridiculously expensive these days. #beersofmastodon

Currently 7 hours into P3P after a brutal difficulty spike when I reached the first boss. I've got to level 20 of Tartarus and I'm starting to get a decent selection of Personas in my arsenal. My general experience of these games suggests this is where it starts to get good! #psp #persona3 #retrogaming

Having a pretty stressful week at work, so I'm listening to California by Mr Bungle on the way to work today, which is one of my all time favourite albums. Nearly halfway through the week. NONE OF THEM KNEW.. NONE OF THEM KNEW.. THEY WERE ROBOTS...

So I cracked and got myself an Xteink X4. I had to borrow my wife's laptop with Windows to install Crosspoint which was a bummer, because Ubuntu couldn't recognise the device for flashing purposes. But it's done. I've just started Naomi Klein's latest book Doppelganger, which I'm enjoying so far.
