I want to put this out there for those who need to hear it, and as a reminder for myself. You don't need to impress people to be a good friend. You need to just be, and that is good enough.

I swear people on social media have gotten angrier to the point that they sound like insolent children. You know you don't have to bastardize a word with "slop" or "flop" when you're angry about something. Where the hell did the adults go?

In Dolphin's Orpheus synthesizer, the British version of Synthetic Dave sounds awfully familiar.

Example of Chatterbox TTS AI when Synthetic Dave with slightly altered settings is used is a voice cloning reference.

Words of wisdom to programmers. Don't be afraid of being messy and redundant with your code when you want to try something out. Also, more often than not, you'll discover something by accident like I did tonight.

I'm starting to realize how much energy was being sucked out of me working a hospitality job. I took the week off this week, and I finally have the energy to do things I've been putting off for at least a year. Also better self-care is now possible when it wasn't before.

Little did I know that the US survey foot was deprecated beginning in 2023. So no more foot/feet measurements. It's like how both Pluto and the U.S. penny all got decommissioned. It's weird.

@datajake1999 hey jake. is there a reason why the orpheus nvda driver needs a hook dll? I'm guessing it's just to capture sound right?

After some thinking today, I'm beginning to realize how incredibly lucky I was to not fall into a life of substance abuse like my family tree has. After some schadenfreude regarding my ex step dad being charged for dealing meth some years ago, I feel a little of sadness in how life was back then and how I was treated. I'm glad these people are out of my life. However, I currently still live in the area where many of those bad memories occurred. I want to move out of the state f...

Today was a pretty lousy day at work. Employers too cheap to hire more workers to prevent preventable conflicts. The hell did they expect.

I might have found a file from a PocketPC program that uses a variant of AcuVoice. Where you at @datajake and @MutedTrampet https://discmaster.textfiles.com/browse/6078/Best%20of%20Everything%20-%20Pocket%20PC%20Magazine%20(PocketPCMag)(2003).BIN/FinWinProdCD/dl/VoiceCentral.exe/Disk1/data1.cab/UK_Roger

The System is a highly underrated 80s band, and so is this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6KRMcvEaVI

After some thinking, there is absolutely no way a modern day TTS system would be able to run smoothly on a 486 computer.

I was today years old when I learned that not all measurement units had unicode equivalents. That would mean a modern text to speech engine that can disambiguate all measurement types would not be possible.

Decided to do some searching on my state's circuit court website. I was surprised to see my ex-stepdad facing charges for meth possession and bail jumping since 2019. Today I'm a very happy man. I feel vindicated based on how he treated me a long time ago when he gave my mom I've been estranged from my phone number without asking me. Pay back is a bitch.

All languages for BeSTspeech have been found (with Arabic not working for some reason). Here's a demo of them in action.

Here's what the raw data of the unit selection db file for SpeakEasy sounds like. It gives you a good idea on how unit selection synthesis works.

@fastfinge Eh. I blame the data curators for that more than the AI. Virtue signaling on both sides has been quite a thing for the last decade.

The phoneme dictionary for BeSTspeech has been found in the DLL. The phonemes are simply stored as indexes pointing to the phoneme inventory table within array entries for such words like "one" "two" "three" and so on. This is looking promising.

So turns out BeSTspeech has a couple feature translation tables for ASCII. One of them being a bit masked letter class feature. That class table determines whether an ASCII symbol is a vowel, letter, number, or punctuation.

This was quite amusing. BeSTspeech would work well as a wolf simulator.

BestSpeech uses bit masking for retrieving phoneme segmental features from a lookup table. Here are my notes thus far: first bit is v/c switch (0 - vowel, 1 - consonant) second bit is plosive flag third bit is voicing flag fourth bit is alveolar flag fifth bit is affricate flag sixth bit is nasal flag seventh bit is strident flag (pertains to sibilants and some fricative sounds) eighth bit is v/c switch but in reverse (0 - consonant, 1 - vowel)
