For running a booth at an event like #scale21x what scanner app or method do you use when the QR code on attended badges is explicitly open to read? l.e. instead of renting a scanner, what would you do?

What to do at SCaLE 21x? Friday edition Closing out Thursday with the fantastic Kwaai Summit at SCaLE 21x, I'm looking at what is up tomorrow (including my panel) and figured I would share what I'm looking forward to or would be attending if I could. At 10 am in room 107 is "Shared AI Recipes as Public Innovation Infrastructure", which I sadly won't be able to attend (I'm helping setup the Kwaai booth.) The presenter, Sean Blagsvedt, I met recen...

What to do at SCaLE 21x? Saturday edition Yesterday was a whirlwind, from setting up and working at the Kwaai booth to co-conducting a leaderless panel on OSPOs. Last night I scoped out what looked good for today, shared here for you if helps: At 11:15 in Ballroom F is Autumn Nash talking on "Empowering Women in Data: Shaping an Inclusive AI Future", where she talks about something very important to all of us, that "an inclusive data landscape is key to an equitable A...

What to do at SCaLE 21x? Sunday edition After Saturday — always the longest and most schedule-filled day at SCaLE — it's nice to cruise into Sunday, where the talks start later in the morning and the day is a few hours shorter. At 11:45 in room 101, George-Andrei Iosif presents on "The Open Source Fortress". George-Andrei and I met yesterday and had a good conversation about the risks and rewards of psuedonymity in Open Source projects. https://opencommar.ch/blog/what...

NVIDIA announced NIM, essentially AI-model-optimization-as-a-service. CEO Jensen Huang also made it clear they also refer to the containers as "a NIM" or "NIMs". So I expected to go find a GitHub repo for this NIM container specification—I was watching the keynote with Toby Morning & I told him, "I just heard the intro of 'docker container' - a brand soon to become synonymous with a soon-to-be-ubiquitous tech." So f...

Defining the barrier for Open Source AI components Have you ever wondered about the fate of your Open Source AI software when it interfaces with other language models, inference code, and supporting libraries and tools? What if these components lack an Open Source AI-compliant license? Which connections can you safely establish without compromising code, content, data, models, or configurations? As these questions swirl in my mind, I find myself searching for answers… https://opencommar.ch/blo...

@jorge @dave_andersen @katherined @Wildbill That was my first trip with the Trinity, I also had my Tri-Star and I took these side-by-side. The Trinity has the orange interior. They have similar profiles in terms of height and depth, with the Trinity over four inches longer and built with a bit more material to expand larger. I used to travel with my Brain Bag but it's awkward in all the wrong ways for days at conferences and offices. 1/2
