@bluegreenandfree also, neither AI nor RTO are “responsible” for job loss. That responsibility is on the company leadership and HR choosing it. Their hands aren’t tied. The companies aren’t in danger of losing money or going bankrupt. It’s just people chasing profit and unsustainable growth making decisions. Just like supply costs aren’t dictated by the market they are dictated by people at desks making cost determinations.

Benn Jordan has yet to miss. Love his videos, and the time and effort for this one is clear. What a great 45 minutes. Also, fuck, this is bleak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FZy1lBNykA #leveragism #capitalism #authoritarian

Hey @dbtechyt have you done anything with #YouTarr yet? I'm considering setting that up with my #jellyfin instance. #selfhosted

Okay #woodworking folks, these are the first cutting boards I've ever attempted and I'm uncertain of how or if I need to treat these small holes. Do I fill them with sawdust and glue? Food safe epoxy of some sort? Let it ride? I'm concerned about food particles being caught and not cleaning out. #askmastadon

I mean, holy shit. Three months no show and then clearly not all there when he does. How is this allowed? This is not a representative democracy. https://newrepublic.com/post/215538/doge-staffers-big-balls-ai-government-services

I think that everyone that dropped off the Loop tour should put to there their own tour sans Sheeran called “Break the Loop”. End the cycle of capitalism holding up genocide. #freepalestine

We end up hosting friends and family quite a bit, and while we enjoy it the bedding changes can get annoying. Especially when someone comes through that you know will be back in a couple weeks so you COULD keep the guest bed made except for the fact that someone ELSE is coming through between now and then. Enter: doubled duvet. Take the duvet and cover from the first, throw a fresh clean cover over the existing cover, then strip it off when they come back around. Efficiency and laziness rhyme.

So like, this is pretty fucked right? I heard two ads today for this in a podcast and thought "what in the late stage capitalist hellscape is this?" so I had to look it up and it's....wow. https://www.workingwithcancerpledge.com/

Okay #DIY and #solar folks. I have a hairbrained idea to re-purpose an old dishwasher circulation pump for a #garden pump to pair with my rainwater catchment system. But I'm a novice when it comes to #electricity and calculating loads. How would I even go about powering the pump once it's removed, and testing it to see how much power it draws so I know what kind of solar panel and battery I'd even need? #solarpunk #gardening #reuse

I have so little time for anything the last few months it’s hard to not just focus on the next task. But this small section of the yard is the first thing I see when I open the back door and everything is blooming and it brings me great joy. #bloomscrolling #gardening #mngardening #Minnesota

#woodworkers and #furniture builders of mastadon, if I wanted to build something like this what do you suggest for joinery? It seems to me that this furniture just uses screws to hold the load off he seat but maybe I’m missing something. That doesn’t seem to be enough support in my mind. What are your thoughts? #woodworking #askmastodon

I've been thinking about how I can use my skills to help fight fascism. I keep coming back to helping folks #selfhost and move to #linux which helps us all be more #resilient and less reliant on Big Tech (which funds and drives fascism). I'm a #sysadmin by day and I have lots of experience with #helpdesk tasks like supporting end users with #tech and I think hosting a local #linuxinstallparty might be a great way to help my community. Anyone else in the #twincities of #MN have si...

The march today is huge in #minneapolis and I love it. I couldn't get out today but #solidarity from the sidelines. I'm just over here trying to figure out how my particular #sysadmin, #techsupport, and #selfhosted can directly benefit my #minnesota community that is under attack by the federal government and everything I come up with seems hollow, or waaaay too involved for the current time and energy I have available. #mutualaid feels hard to get into even though in theory it should be so easy to do. Also, imposter syndrome hits super hard when you're trying to figure out how useful you can...

I need people to realize that how the people in power treat immigrants is how they would treat every single person they have power over if they could get away with it. And the longer we let them get away with, the more bold they will become. The violence happening against #minneapolis and the #twincities and in greater #minnesota as well as other communities around the U.S. is the same violence that has been done at our borders for decades. What happens on the margins will happen at the center.

Just a reminder that these times are very much ✨✨ P R E C E D E N T E D ✨so please stop saying "in these unprecedented times." Fascism has happened many times over. Acting like we've never seen this before is just making it seem like nobody knows what happens next (both if we don't fight it, and in what ways to fight it). It's precedented, unfortunately. But that also means we have an ANTI fascist playbook we can put to use.

Catching up on my youtube backlog over lunch and Technology Connections gave me not only an insightful video on #renewableenergy but also a surprise straightforward message of #solidarity for #minnesota as well. The video is well worth your time if you're at all interested in #solar power and why it's such a good idea in comparison to #fossilfuels but if you just want his rant it starts at around 1h 16m into the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQ9nt2ZeGM

Rent is coming due for many #TwinCities families that have had to make the choice between going to work and possibly never coming home, or staying home and losing wages or even their jobs. If you have a few dollars to throw toward rent relief, especially if you live outside of #minnesota where #ice is less present, I know it would really help some families out: https://chuffed.org/project/167138-emergency-rent-fund-support-workers-in-minnesota #mutualaid #rentRelief
