Been a while since I posted for #WIPWednesday so I've made quite a lot of progress with the algorithmic temperature chart since last time – I'm down to the 12th March now, and there are some temperatures into the yellows. You can also clearly see the repeating pattern, but it's a bit harder to see once the colours are added in. Pattern is generated using an algorithm from "Beading with Algorithms" by Gwen Fisher & Roger Antonsen. #WIP #CrossSt...

I have loads of projects on the go, so what I decided to do on my birthday was start a new one so the day felt different to a regular Saturday (yes, that doesn't really make sense!). This is a freebie Christmas SAL from Fat Quarter Shop which ran in July alongside a quilt sew-along. It's a quicker stitch than I was expecting, this is the first two parts of 5 and I did them in one afternoon. Of course I'm comparing it to last year's SAL from Fat Quarter Shop whi...

Nebamun continues slowly but surely. This is my slowest stitch, because of all the counting and colour changes. But nonetheless I'm making progress with this column, the bird is almost complete (just missing the bottoms of its legs) and you can see that it is siting on some eggs. I'll be starting on the papyrus fronds soon. Pattern by Scarlet Quince, now sold by Paine Free Crafts. #WIP #WIPWednesday #CrossStitch #ancientEgypt

I started stitching these cushion covers in May 2018, well "started again" would be more accurate – I'd done some of the Celtic knot one about 30 or so years ago but decided to abandon that & start again completely. That one (left in the photos) came from a book called "Celtic Needlepoint" by Alice Starmore, and I designed the other one to complement it. I finished the embroidery some time in 2019 and then bought materials to turn them into c...

I've passed a couple of milestones since I last posted the algorithmic temperature chart I'm stitching – I've finished the (bulk of) the length of the piece as I've now finished March and April (top of column two). I'm not sure this is working as well as I'd hoped as I think the pattern is getting a bit lost, it's much clearer when the colours aren't there. If I decide to do one for next year I'll have to have a bit of a r...

I continue to make progress on Nebamun – on this column I'm working on I've just got as far as the top of the papyrus fronds that the birds are standing on Pattern by Scarlet Quince, now sold by Paine Free Crafts. #WIPWednesday #WIP #CrossStitch #AncientEgypt

I need another project like a need a hole in the head. So obviously I'm designing a new pair of cushion covers to complement my red ones that I finally finished earlier this month ( https://mastodonapp.uk/@pling/117270426850030131 ). The plan is that they'll be blue with gold knotwork, and the main design in the centre rather than as four corners. But I really should finish some more of the things I've got started first! #embroidery #WIPWednesday #WIP #CelticKnot

I've finished stitching this year's Fat Quarter Shop Christmas SAL called Jolly Tree Farm. This was quite a quick stitch, and fun to work on. Now to buy supplies to back it and turn it into something I can use as part of our Christmas decorations :) #crossStitch

I'm still about 2 weeks away from finishing this column of Nebamun, and I feel like it's been 2 weeks for several weeks now! It's going through a colour transition right now from the beige-y background to the blue of the papyrus plants so it feels like almost every stitch in the row is either finishing or ending a thread. So between that & having been busy the last couple of weeks I've been making very slow progress. Pattern by Scarlet Quince. #WIPWedn...

I've finished the nudibranch & labelled him (the french knot for the dot on the i is a little big, so I may one day strip that label out and redo it, or I may just decide to leave it as is). To the right I've started work on the snail, only about 2 colours in so I don't think he's recognisable right now. Pattern by Climbing Goat Designs. #WIPWednesday #WIP #crossStitch #biology

The algorithmic temperate chart is now up to 5 February. I may have been over optimistic about being caught up by end of quarter 2 but I do still think I'll be up to date before the end of the year. Nebamun progresses – you can see down the bottom of the column that I'm nearly through the colour transition into blues so it should get a bit quicker now I won't be starting & stopping threads every other stitch. Pattern by Scarlet Quince. #crossStitch #WIPWednesday #WIP #ancientEgypt

Making fairly slow progress on this piece, I'm up to February 8th now and the pattern repeat is definitely visible. Hopefully I'll get more stitching time soon and get more of this done.
