Another episode of me becoming an iOS App "director": I received a crash report via TestFlight and the log really helped finding a bug. it only appeared in iOS 18, I could reproduce it, fix available: https://testflight.apple.com/join/ryfBYNEr, new testers and feedback very welcome! More info about the "Print Your Track" at https://topoprint.ch/press.html

Reading this post about using AI responsibly: https://www.techwerkers.nl/en/posts/manifesto-responsible-agentic-coding/ I like the pragmatic advice, like "Use AI to reduce technical debt – not mindlessly increase it. Automate boring tasks – enjoy the fun ones.". I think along the same lines https://blog.heuel.org/2026/05/creative-processes-grind-and-joy/

My hobby project from my summer vacation is nearly finished: The tagline is "Put your adventure on the table": https://printyourtrack.com Turn any GPX file to an AR model and print/order it online, all from your phone. Public TestFlight is available on the website, iOS only. #gischat #hiking #cycling #terrain

We're hiring a Data Science Intern for climate adaptation at Resilens - Hybrid in Potsdam, Zürich, or Wuppertal. You'd sit right between our climate researchers and software engineers, turning notebook analyses into tested, reusable building blocks for a product that helps cities decide where to adapt first. https://careers.resilens.com/jobs/8496269-data-science-intern-climate-adaptation #FediHire #hiring #gischat

"ZEIT: Is there anything AI cannot do at all in the field of mathematics? Kaßmann: What it cannot do, and, we believe, can learn only with great difficulty, is concept formation. That is an important part of mathematics: while working, you notice that a certain object has fundamental properties, and it is then given its own name and a definition. This is often the starting point for new research. AI systems have so far not proposed anything of the kind at all.“ https://www.zeit.de/wis...

I very much like this vision of personal computing: https://lightbulbcomputer.com/ Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the gap between the digital and the physical world (that's way I created https://printyourtrack.com). There seems to be a natural urge to not get sucked into our screens. And the video of the lightbulb computer shows that you can innovate on fundamental UX without being a big tech company. Thanks @heliographe_studio

Unfassbar. Wie weit ist man vom wirklichen Leben entfernt, um das als einen von 9 Punkten zu fordern. Unabhängig von der Klimafrage.

This such a wonderful and insightful "scroll-article" about AI by Christoph Niemann. Take your time and experience the article. One profound insight among many: "Automating the creation of art is like automating life, so you can make it to the finish line faster." (Gift 🎁 link) https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/06/23/magazine/ai-art-artists-illustrator.html?unlocked_article_code=1.R08.MYpw.eD6wJ8bO7qGo&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referring...

RE: https://fedi.simonwillison.net/@simon/115884336394941211 I agree with Simon that coding agents like Claude Code or Codex are fascinating and one of the revelations to me in 2025. Exposing this to non-coders has huge potential, but also (as always with AI) even higher risks. Next to the price tag, I wouldn't advise anyone non-technical to use Cowork in a professional environment other than for personal research. I wouldn't put "security worries aside".

One of the nicer things about using GitHub is that "GitHub Actions" can act like cron jobs, so you don't need any server to automate workflows. I use this to send out newsletters, https://github.com/ping13/listmonk-rss. Unfortunately, scheduled GH actions have been broken at least since last week: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/185081 I do hope this comes back soon.

@rastrau Existing repos are also unaffected for me and still working. But if you create/fork a repo, you'll not get scheduling at the moment

A climate adaptation startup is looking for a #uxdesign partner (independent or agency) to sharpen key user interactions in their platform. If you’re into turning real-world workflows into clear and trustworthy UX, you should definitely check out this PDF: https://resilens.com/rfp/2026-02-10_RFP_UX_Design_Resilens.pdf. Maybe we’ll bump into each other when making adaptation happen! Please boost. #ux #design #servicedesign

I love Venn diagrams - who doesn't? Tonight, I stumbled upon a mathematical paper by Bálint Csanády that introduces a new way to generate a Venn diagram: https://arxiv.org/html/2601.06980v1: "[...] Unlike most classical constructions, our method emphasizes readability and customizability by using shaped sinusoids and amplitude scaling. [...]" ... and there is even a Python package: https://pypi.org/project/vennfan/ (untested)

We should prioritize using AI to assist humans in navigating the forthcoming surge of software code. I built an agent skill that takes any folder of code and generates C4 diagrams and a local interactive HTML explorer for architecture review, details in my blog post at https://blog.heuel.org/2026/02/an-agentic-skill-for-interactive-c4-architecture-diagrams/ As an example, take a look at the architecture of NanoClaw, an alternative to the hyped AI agent platform #OpenClaw.

@scott with #geobeer in Switzerland, we use https://ti.to and it has served us well. Currently no events planned at https://eobeer.ch though

  • View post

@scott geobeer.ch events are also free. Tito helps to limit the number of people by issuing free tickets because demand is usually higher than the available seats per event. Maybe @rastrau can comment on his recent experience. AFAIK we never paid for tito.

RE: https://mastodon.online/@rkaravia/116419406209764627 Nice example of client side COG Tiff rendering. Why is this cool? it streams and visualizes potentially large geospatial rasters directly in the browser without servers. My #netatmo weather stations fails to show me data on the web and in my app because of a Cloud issue. Unfortunately, there is no local way to read the data (at least to my knowledge, the #HomeAssistant integration depends on a cloud connection). I knew about the cloud dependency, when I bought it. But I am still still surprised that the outage is lasting for hours already. https://health.netatmo.com/posts/dashboard
