Taitset hits it for six again with another great video. This time a long look at public transport #accessibility in Melbourne. Well worth a watch even if you're not from Melbourne! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JJtFaOwGO2g #MelbourneTrains #PublicTransport #Transit #Video

Today is one of the ten days or so of perfect weather that Melbourne gets each year. Great for a picnic lunch at Flagstaff Gardens. Doesn't get much better than this! #Spring #melbourne

DART routes running 30+ minutes late throughout the day due to lack of bus priority during North East Link construction works. Causing massive delays and overcrowding. This is a completely unacceptable situation for the main public transport routes servicing the entire City of Manningham including Doncaster and Bulleen. And not content with messing up the buses, North East Link works have again disrupted the route 48 tram as well due to "traffic impacts": https://transport.vi...

The first passenger run of the new G class tram today. And what a morning! Starting at Essendon Depot there was a media conference and gathering of politicians, project staff, drivers and many others to celebrate the big day. The first new tram class for Melbourne since the E class, these medium capacity trams will initially run on the route 59, followed by the 57 and 82. We rode it down to Flinders Street before it turned back to head up to Essendon Depot. It performed admirably and will be...

New post about the good and the bad about the (sort of) new precinct maps at railway stations in Melbourne https://philipmallis.com/2026/07/03/precinct-maps-at-railway-stations-the-good-and-the-bad/ #MelbourneTrains #PublicTransport #Transit #ShowMeASign #Melbourne #AustralianTrains

Incredible turnout today at the largest local government strike in Victoria's history! The message from the thousands of workers here today is clear - Council workers deserve fair pay. Our wages have gone **down** in real terms by up to 12% over the past four years. Our pay increases have been as low as 1.5% a year, far below cost-of-living increases. Enough is enough! Excellent post on the train frequency upgrades announced yesterday for Melbourne and Victoria from Peter Parker. It's very welcome news but also leaves significant gaps. E.g. the Ringwood Group will have a more frequent service at 11pm on a weekday than at 11am. https://melbourneontransit.blogspot.com/2026/04/tt-228-more-trains-on-6-lines.html?m=1 #MelbourneTrains #Melbourne #Transit #PublicTransport #AustralianTrains

A new TV show is coming to Melbourne and Geelong! The show is called "Stories of Victoria" and will feature ten episodes. These will be compilations of some of my existing videos, organised into themes. Channel 31 is an amazing resource that has been around for decades supporting community-made content. It is not government-funded and has had a few near misses in recent years. Thankfully it is still around. Stories of Victoria premiers tonight at 9:30pm (AEDT) and will show...
