As an experiment, I began a complete rewrite of [CVXR](https://cvxr.rbind.io) from ground up exploiting [S7](https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/S7/index.html) classes in R. See what was accomplished using Claude code: Slides and Video: https://naras.su.domains/blog/ TL;DR : See slide 25 #rstats #python #cvxpy #claude

Another excellent use for claude code: generate direct fixes and/or helpful customized email/reports for reverse dependency failures for your R package. Should be hookable into either `tools::check_packages_in_dir()` or `revdepcheck` and variants #rstats

I consider myself lucky to work with Jerome Friedman, Trevor Hastie, Rob Tibshirani, Jonathan Taylor and wonderful students on many projects. But glmnet (https://glmnet.stanford.edu) surely stands out. Version 5.0 of glmnet on CRAN now includes a history vignette (https://glmnet.stanford.edu/articles/glmnet-history.html) that describes the contributions of everyone involved. We hope it is as much fun to read as it was for us to write, even as we were humbled by how many contributed! #Rstats

A thought 24 hours after the Rousseeuw Prize (https://www.rousseeuwprize.org/2026) announcement for R project: S gave statisticians utterance, R gave them free speech. (Indians of a certain age will recognize those words...) #rstats
