The inside of my brain is like one of those 80s montages where somebody is flipping through the channels on a tv and you see all kinds of weird stuff for like half a second and then I post that here. Sorry

To my fellow middle-class, white, especially but not exclusively male and middle-aged people: The wokescolds, the hysterical feminists and anti-racists, the impractical anti-business leftists, the unelectable anti-police-state and pro-environmental activists were all right, and the fact that we tried to be reasonable and practical and conciliatory rather than standing with them when they drew their bright red lines in the sand is the reason that the world now looks like *gestures broadly*.

The new state budget proposal continues to ratfuck state employees, existing teachers, and retirees, throwing a bone to teacher recruitment with 8% raises for *new* teachers and fellating cops with 10-20%. As a commenter on Reddit pointed out, those undereducated kids trapped in generational poverty arenʼt going to arrest themselves. https://ncnewsline.com/2026/05/12/nc-republican-leaders-announce-end-to-state-budget-impasse/

Installed iodéOS and so far it seems like a really awesome Android alternative. I like how much fine-grained control it gives you over the user experience. But the installation process was a beast. Their install page tells you, incorrectly, that you only have to plug your phone in and run the installer. If I didnʼt have vague memories of flashing a phone 5+ years ago I would have had no idea how to troubleshoot why it was silently failing.

TIL about a bacterium so tiny, it lives in a fly. But not just inside a fly, children, no — it's so tiny that it lives inside the *cells* of a fly. And its genome is so smol it might just be the smollest of them all. And its name is Wigglesworth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wigglesworthia

All those people saying “I was skeptical of AI, until I tried Claude and I was amazed that it could tell me this and this and this” sound just like “I was skeptical of psychics, but then Madame Fortuna told me something only my dead wife would know!” Human perception has certain well-documented flaws that confidence men prey upon, and you are not immune from these

So Roku makes you agree to new terms of service waiving your right to sue the company in order to keep using the hardware you paid for, then three days later reveals a data breach. I guess weʼve given up pretending that capitalism is anything more than open war of all against all at this point?
