In this short interview, Kiyoshi Kurosawa talks about how the Japanese cinema industry is separated in two: 1 side for just commercial movies, one for only author movies. I'm not so knowledgeable about the industry there, but I've definitely noticed that before. When I ask random Japanese people, most of them have never heard of many of the directors that are well known in France. Some of these movies are even barely distributed in Japan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFWtRdg...

Finding out about this https://www.hrw.org/report/2025/07/21/you-feel-like-your-life-is-over/abusive-practices-at-three-florida-immigration Not really surprised given previous records (guantanamo, etc) but absolutely disgusting facist behavior from the US administration. Concentration camps with physical and psychological torture, denying basic human decency and medical care, for people who have no recourse and often arrested arbitrarily during their everyday activities.

@exa Not sure if you're looking for peeps on mastodon specifically or on the web in general. If the latter, the Espresso Aficionados discord has quite a lot of LP owners

@notjustbikes I lived a few years in Nantes and learned a lot still! They didn't have the Tram-train back then! I was also very happy to see how the liberal arts faculty had been renovated 🥹 It used to be a crufty old building full of asbestos or whatever they used to build stuff 60 years ago
