@2Molars@oulipo.social @ovonor The waithuman: "I wouldn't put that on the menu as a description but I won't say you're wrong" or words to that extent.

@FinalOverdrive @merz @dangillmor I think any difference in model is dwarfed by differences in commitment and funding.

@theLUCASTDS @7soulshine7 Or that the people who see this mastodon account have been better educated and more diligent about covid than the general public. "accurate" would only apply if anyone thought Mastodon was supposed to be a "reflection of the public".

Paranoia about 15 minute cities seems the new right-wing craze on Twitter, so I tried making an explainer. https://twitter.com/mindstalk/status/1627753815612223490 #cities #urbanism #walkability

@TechConnectify How is that not causal? We force a DST change, a one hour schedule change, people get disoriented and sleep deprived, and accidents increase.

@shawrd773 @mekkaokereke In 1980s Chicago, a substitute teacher exposed us to algebra in 4th grade. My parents noticed me perking up for two days, and I ended up taking algebra properly in 5th grade, calc in 8th. I might be unusual, but how would we know? I do know I didn't get all of the candy she used as a bribe, so some classmate was responding too -- but didn't have my parents to push them forward.

It's spring. High pollen season. CDC and NHS both say 20-ish% of the population has hay fever allergies. Pollen is big, you don't even need a particularly good mask to stop it. Think of the tens, maybe hundreds of millions of people, in North America and Europe, who are suffering rather than wearing a mask.
