  Back from a trail run in the Bavarian Alps. I love being out at dusk and after dark. Your visual world narrows to the beam of the headlamp, the last light, and the stars. But everything else feels sharper: the smell of damp forest, the sound of crickets in the meadows, the sudden warm air on your skin when you reach an alpine pasture, streams running in the dark and tawny owls calling.
