The development of LLMs has been littered with highly anticipated milestones that weren&#39;t, in retrospect, as significant as they seemed. The discourse on as well as the impact of AI is heavily online. My IRL normie friends barely talk about it, and don&#39;t really think that much about the side effects--I&#39;m the weirdo ranting about it who seems to them to be switching sides all the time (because I am discontented with the AI industry, not the underlying technology).
