  Spent the last two hours helping the spouse set up Get Shit Done (GSD) so that she could scaffold the technical testbed for the PhD program that starts tomorrow. The testbed isn’t the research; it’s what the research needs so it can even get done. Honestly this involves a tech stack and integrations I am functionally illiterate with. I can’t imagine how she and her research partner, having had to lean on another PhD candidate to do this who frankly hadn’t the time, would have done it.

  _If_ I ever go to Burning Man again, I ought to reverse engineer some TipToi pens and make some off-books with off-audio tracks and place them at one of the community bars. People out of their goard on LSD on Ketamine would be trapped in not just any hole: my digital hole. Could give some of those disturbing vibes of the voiced greeting card assemblies that were wedged in the doors of the portapotties, which sounds progressively more twisted due to battery decay and physical breakdown.

  The “gotcha!” level of cynicism in American discourse that writes off good policy with good intentions: 1. as being bad for having (any) unintended bad consequences 2. as being bad due to being supposedly an instance of regulatory capture in the vested interests of another party is going to prevent any material recovery over any span of time.   This was a good trip. I am going to miss the pickled delights from Hungary. This part of the flavor palette is primally appealing. Maybe one of the most notable memories food-wise will be the tökmagolajos savanyú káposzta. Zala County is endowed with rustic nature. My chief memories will be canoeing on Kis-Balaton and exploring the bluffs. #magyarország

  In case you didn’t see it in the news today, O(10000s) came to the streets in Minneapolis to protest the federal occupation with a regional strike. Many local businesses shut down. Only mentioning this since it seems that media downplayed the event or chose to not cover it (fly-over country after all). Also worth noting: getting and sustaining a crowd this large at -28°C outside (don’t let the clear skies confuse you) is rather notable for the social barometer. (Not my photo) #USPol
