  Any guesses on how long before generative ai based search becomes another #enshittification disaster? Is there a single boardroom at any corporation currently offering free ai based search that is not looking at how to bake ad revenue into their products? The sad fact is that 'copilot' like searches are vastly better than the enshittified mess google provides, but that is obviously only a temporary respite.

  @Linux@kitty.social actually crowdstrike pushed an apparently untested update to their av software that crashed cloud and local servers using crowdstrike worldwide. Microsoft for once was the victim not the perpetrator.

  What I've learned about the #crowdstrike disaster: the CS update was to one of its definition data files. Their system requires these updates be frequent and automatic. Their kernel software crashes while reading this apparently corrupt file. That is a bug in their kernel software. It must protect itself from this sort of input error. That is resiliency 101. How the file got corrupted is a more interesting question.
