Too bad Trump built that big wall to keep us in.

Legal defense fund for MN "Antifa" defendants. https://chuffed.org/project/186570-minnesota-15-legal-defense-fund In addition, though, if the Trump regime is going to target people for "antifa" speech and association, isn't it time for a mass movement that's explicitly and loudly anti-fascist? Dare them to arrest us all? We'll need unions, churches, and parties to lead this, but I for one am ready to do my part.

@nberlat.bsky.social Yes. Especially if Scotland becomes independent, which seems inevitable.

@freezenet Sooooo close to getting it! Yes, the heat wave was geo-engineered, so to speak, but not by anti-Trumpers. Allow me to introduce the fossil fuel oligarchs and the right-wing politicians that love them.

I have been privileged to be a principal caregiver to a grandchild, now 4-1/2 months old. I am reminded that babies initially cry for what they need, often food. Later, if all goes well, they start to smile and laugh spontaneously, from pure joy, to the delight of those around them. Only much later do children learn that a smile, and other behavior, can be used to manipulate and deceive. Every human child is a new opportunity for humanity not to fuck this up.

Occasionally, through pure dumb luck, the subject animal and background and light combine to produce something that appeals to me aesthetically.

I have been a student of Latin American politics for a long time. I have to believe there is muscle memory within Venezuela, and the hemisphere more broadly, to oppose the most naked and unapologetic imperialistic looting in our lifetimes. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/us-nears-deal-secure-long-term-access-venezuelas-oil-reserves-sources-say-2026-08-27/

Looking forward to today's Lego video on Trump giving up on peace talks after one day so he can enjoy wrestling on the lawn.

Wait, so the head of the feared secret police apparatus in the monstrously lawless regime attacks his critics by (checking notes) filing lawsuits? I mean, good, I guess...

On a hike yesterday, I learned about GPS collars that can be used instead of fencing to monitor livestock and limit their movement. If, say, a cow moves toward a prohibited area, its collar first beeps a warning, then delivers a shock. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofence First thought: eliminating fences sounds good for wildlife, and a reduction in material waste. Second thought: WTF, they're automating cowboys? Third thought: How long before the fascist techbros make all of us we...
