It looks like Omarchy is as much about Linux as GamerGate was about journalism.

The Bun's #Zig to #Rust rewrite is an advertisement for Anthropic, at the cost of hurting both languages. It already made a stink for Zig. Now, when this mountain of unstable, auto-converted LGTM'd code is going to have embarrassing bugs, it's going to make a stink for Rust: "see, Rust adoption was pointless, it's still buggy!"

I'm switching from #macOS to Linux. So far keyboard shortcuts are the hardest obstacle. Muscle memory refuses to change, so I work like I've seen a keyboard for the first time yesterday. Lack of separate Ctrl & Cmd seems like a deeper problem than just doing things differently. It halves available keyboard combos. It turns out I've been using lots more than just Cmd+C vs Ctrl+C.

Autocorrect changed "abstraction layer" to "obstruction layer". It has a point. I need to start using this term.

USA revolving around several trillion-dollar companies, and EU having hardly any, is supposed to imply economic superiority, but to me it sounds "if you're so good at growing, why don't you have more tumours?"

Copyright has always been a tricky balance. Trying to distinguish between inspiration and a ripoff. Let authors make a living, but not put the entire shared culture behind a paywall. Allow education, parody, commentary without creating loopholes for freeloaders (with lots of grey areas, flaws, gaps, and abuses in practice). If copyright didn't exist, we'd have even more paranoid DRM used to defend commercial interests. If copyright was harsher, we'd get more walled gardens and DMCA-s...

#Code reviews seem to be the biggest bottleneck in software development right now. Open source package ecosystems are victims of their own success. There's a long tail of iffy packages that nobody has reviewed, and nobody wants to. For the top projects, maintenance is tough. Stakes are high. Reviews are hard. Contributions are meh quality (even before LLMs). It's not just code, but a people problem too. GitHub's primitive workflow wastes everyone's time. Someth...
