TIL that the 1954 animated “Animal Farm” film was effectively produced by the CIA (and, no, not the Catering Institute of America, although that would’ve been equally interesting :-) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Farm_(1954_film)

I try to attend iOSDevUK [1] every other year [2] and, now that I’m feeling more human again, after the madness that was the second quarter of the year, I’m starting to look forward to September. Oh, and I get to stop over with /delightful/ rellies on the way down, and this year I’m planning a short diversion [3] (-: [1] https://www.iosdevuk.com [2] Just for fun, and on my own dime. Very much a busman’s holiday (-: [3] https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/midlands/

My goodness, that last episode of “The Americans” (s6e10) is just heartbreaking. I’ve been rewatching the entire show over the past 6 months or so. I first watched it as it was originally released, and I remember it being the most amazing show. This rewatch has absolutely vindicated me carrying a torch for it all that time. Just brilliant.

My Mastodon instance, `toot.community`, is shutting down later this year. https://social.jorijn.com/@jorijn/statuses/01KYN00AP3NCZXCFB96KQB8GN2 This is sad, but not surprising. Running a Mastodon instance is hard work. I’d like to thank @jorijn for doing it so well over the years.

This means that I need a new instance. I’m going to continue avoiding the large instances, because we really should keep Mastodon federated. After zenning on it for a bit, I’ve decided to pick a Scottish one. While I may not be a True Scotsman™, I have lived here longer than I’ve lived anywhere else, so it seems appropriate.

Found this in my org’s building during my recent trip. AFAICT it’s not deliberate, but rather an artefact of its design.

Now that I’ve had some sleep, I’ve come to the conclusion that I should definitely not toot about California the evening that I get there, when I’m weary from travel and jet lag. Not that I did — despite the impairments, Yesterday Quinn™ had the good sense to delete the toot rather than sending it — but it was close |-:
