RE: https://social.wildeboer.net/@jwildeboer/117455465011243638 Good advice. I haven’t had any spam but I don’t want any either. I had six different apps authorized for my account because I’ve never found one I liked and never deauthorized them. Yes, I love the Mastodon native mobile interface, I think it looks great in any mobile browser, but mostly in DuckDuckGo mobile

The combustion-engine-driven Mad-Max-style dystopian future we were all raised to believe in seems a lot more realistic if you imagine solarpunks charging ebikes before riding into battle. Also this looks like tremendous fun. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c9zrdpg7256yo

The kids are alright. Also, why aren’t more colleges and universities enlisting their students to help set policies? https://www.npr.org/2026/07/30/nx-s1-5853571/students-set-ai-policy

RE: https://mastodon.social/@yaelwrites/116893016548981856 This isn’t just a win for right to repair, it’s a win for food security in general when farmers can manage their equipment to get food on the table, and a win for the cybersecurity of our farming infrastructure when people no longer have incentives to expose themselves to malware trying to crack firmware

Canvas LMS is down globally due to a security breach. I received numerous emails from my uni IT today increasingly concerned ultimately warning everybody Don’t. Log. In. At. All. So the end of the semester is tomorrow at 23:59ET. Lots of finals haven’t been graded. Lots of final projects haven’t been submitted. Nobody has alternative modes for work and no backups exist. What is the most likely scenario here? #academicchatter #canvas #canvaslms #highered

I've been teaching administrators around my campus that it's easier to use Microsoft Teams in a browser. Less bloat, more responsive, more control over how it acts because the browser doesn't just let it take actions. That's step one. Step two, hey look how more responsive it is in Firefox. Step three, look how much faster Linux is and you can still use all that stuff. Step four, we leave the Microsoft shell and gain enlightenment.
