  NC 751 from Duke Forest to US 70 between Durham and Hillsborough was quite a bit backed up today at about 2:30pm. Probably because the portions of I85 near there looked like they were a parking lot. I’m thankful that for just about anywhere I tend to go in the Triangle, I can avoid the interstate. I’d take this over being stuck on the highway any day.

  In today’s episode of interesting sights within the #EnoRiver State Park - there’s a stand of what I think is invasive Golden Bamboo just off the Laurel Bluffs Trail near the Pleasant Green entrance. It’s off trail with a little social trail heading into it - right off the first creek bridge crossing - but if you ignore the invasive part - there’s a bit of unexpected delight to stand in there. It’s so dense that what light comes through is pretty magical.

  I have these Eastern Jack-O-Lantern Mushrooms (Omphalotus illudens*) growing in my yard, begging for a picture, and their guardian apparently wanted their portrait taken too.(a Gray treefrog, or perhaps a “Cope’s Gray treefrog). #fungi #frogs #fungiandfrogs #MushroomsOfMastodon (* I think, it’s the best guess from a reverse image search and the fact they are growing out of a rotting oak stump)
