For the first time in months I have any an empty master branch i.e., just pointing to mainline/master :-) Gotta enjoy the moment.

I've been using C++ a lot lately and the main benefit has been that I have much easier time to keep the language in my memory, given that the spec is more stable than e.g., in Rust. And by following Google's C++ conventions I have single spec where to lookup for appropriate patterns. It's much lower barrier to take the text editor and write some code. One project where I've use it is the installer for Puu OS. The main stimuli for switching from Rust to C++ came...

Landstrip 0.20.x was purposely a large feature pack and I've been fixing what broke down since. I thought that it is better to do one such major push and then just focus more on stabilization (up until one day there is 1.0). Have some patience please :-) Up until 1.0 I neither call Landstrip as "secure" nor stable but 0.20.x changes definitely will eventually start to decrease the variance on both of these aspects.

I have a fix already that can be formally said to actually fix this bug but I can't get over it before I have A/B test that is fairly reliable: https://syzkaller.appspot.com/bug?extid=c15de43f1e7fffbb7b9b It's still cool to show with and without...

At least I got two additional 4 TB WD drives for my NAS so hooray for RAID-5 / EXT-4 with four drives :-) And f*** Amazon.

I can feel that I'm somehow "back" with actual focus into kernel for the first time this year. And I only noticed it now when looking back. During the course of the Spring there was a period when the shit happening around was so crazy that it really put some weight on my mental capacities at least. I think it was a smart decision to remove "Assisted-by" tag because it actually encourages for patch spamming, and everyone in the field knows this. We kn...

Probably in most countries once few years pass by, slop is the standard of public IT services. What is cheapest wins despite the quality. In private sector the market balances its use.

Other than AI slop appearing in the Asustor's ADM, their security is broken too. Or at least the password dictionary attack block is not exactly working :-) #infosec #asustor

    I made a new benchmark: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jarkko/linux-tpmdd-test.git/tree/package/keygcbench

93% drop in the variance of the time spent on a single keyring_garbage_collector() call with only 2.2% increase in the total time spent on processing the full serial tree 🥳 The serial tree is now processed in 64 keys per invocation chunks instead doing the full traversal at once. The combined average time on my laptop's CPU (== shitty Zen 2) is 0.154 ms per chunk. I guess this should put an end to the reoccuring theme of workqueue lockups (and LLM bug fixes that come along with it)....

I don't understand the concept of secure email. If you want it secure, use PGP 🤷 Otherwise, it is insecure. If (which is a long stretch) a government wants to spy on you, they don't have to target your inbox. They target SMTP nodes, root routers or other infrastructure assets. It's more transparent, trivial and invisible. If I send an email without encryption, I send it with an assumption that anyone could read this. #email #infosec

Signal is more secure than Protonmail than any of the similar services.

Those two Roland synths (term in the broad scope of the word) run on AA batteries. And I just realized that do five out of seven hardware synths that I own. It's clearly an attribute that I appreciate... And I like to reboot working environments constantly meaning that physical objects do change their place all the time at my house :-)

I'd bet this is AI generated site: https://yabridge.org/ E.g., installation instructions are completely off the tracks.

learning M8 for iOS part 2: still don't know most of the time what i'm doing but let's continue shoveling :-) i should probably check out what tables are some day. have not read or watched anything because this way it is more fun.

I get creating song material w/o general purpose computer but what I don't get is this optimizing to not touch to a computer at all costs :-) This is usually (always) combined with a purchase of a hardware sequencer that costs at least as much as a MacBook Pro :-) and sometimes you have to go to a multi year wait list to get one for yourself. Personally I bought Macbook Neo to be solely a DAW/sequencer and CME H4MIDI WC MIDI hub to which a WIDI chip can be mounted. Anything from native...

Musicians don't buy Apple hardware because of the brand. The problem is really PC manufacturers and ther zero investment to grounded audio ports and decent quality dacs etc :-) There is no "PC option" for music IMHO.

Dirtywave should sell custom midi controllers for their iOS app. I would not buy the dedicated device but I would definitely pay even unfair sum for the controller :-) iPhone is much better hardware for my needs given e.g., built-in WIDI. And I can carry one device instead of two, which another plus. #dirtywave #m8

I could get USB-B splitter cable that I want from US but shipping to my home costs about $80. I cannot believe this isn't a thing at Ali Express ;-)

I cannot understand that even in 2026 there is a strong anti-systemd movement o_O We waited 20 years to something like systemd to happen to have great cross-distribution compatiblity.

I feel so much better of using Pi now as the reference client in my local infrastructure project Puu,: https://mariozechner.at/posts/2026-03-25-thoughts-on-slowing-the-fuck-down/ For majority, I share his opinions. I don't like AI. That's why I work on Puu.

I find rpm-ostree really cool technology. Have been playing with it my X390 Thinkpad, which is like my "testing ground for new stuff". Has this been applied to other distributions so far similarly as in Silverblue? I'm particularly interested could I redo this with arch baseline?
